Beyond the Deck: Meet Captain Abraham Adil of The Maj Oceanic

Behind every exceptional yacht journey is a crew whose experience, dedication, and passion shape the moments guests remember long after the voyage ends. At Asia Global Yachting, we believe the people behind the experience are just as important as the destinations themselves.

This month, we are proud to introduce Captain Abraham Adil of The Maj Oceanic.

Originally from Flores, Labuan Bajo, Captain Abraham began his journey in the tourism and marine industry in 2003. Starting as a helper, he steadily worked his way through a wide range of roles onboard, including stewarding, restaurant service, dinghy driving, deck operations, dive tank handling, fiberglass work, and diving.

Driven by curiosity and determination, Captain Abraham embraced every opportunity to learn. Over the years, he developed into a highly skilled dive guide and maritime professional, eventually joining renowned vessels such as KLM Seven Seas, where he advanced to 2nd Officer and completed his Class 5 maritime training in 2010.

His impressive career has since taken him across some of Indonesia’s most respected vessels, including Seven Seas, White Manta, Waow, Mermaid 2, Scubaspa Zen, Black Manta, Mischief, Samsara Samudra, Sanctuary, and now The Maj Oceanic.

Today, with more than two decades of experience at sea, Captain Abraham brings calm leadership, technical expertise, and genuine care to every journey. His story, from helper to captain, reflects perseverance, humility, and a deep connection to Indonesia’s oceans.

Beyond his professional achievements, Captain Abraham is also a devoted husband and father of two. Highly respected by both guests and crew alike, he has become an important part of The Maj Oceanic family.

When asked about his favorite destination, Captain Abraham immediately mentions the Alor Archipelago in East Nusa Tenggara.

Located within the eastern Lesser Sunda Islands, Alor remains one of Indonesia’s most untouched cruising destinations. Known for its crystal-clear waters, dramatic volcanic landscapes, traditional villages, and world-class diving, the region offers a rare sense of remoteness and authenticity that continues to captivate experienced travelers and seafarers alike.

For Captain Abraham, Alor represents the spirit of exploration that first inspired him to pursue a life at sea, quiet anchorages, genuine local culture, and extraordinary natural beauty far beyond the ordinary tourist path.

As guests sail aboard The Maj Oceanic, it is crew members like Captain Abraham who transform a beautiful destination into a truly meaningful experience.

Because behind every voyage, there is always a story.
