Bali is a year-round yacht charter destination, but the experience shifts noticeably between the two seasons. Understanding when to go helps you match the trip to what you want to do on the water.
Dry Season (April to October) — Peak Charter Season
The dry season delivers the conditions most charter guests are hoping for: clear skies, calm seas, gentle easterly trade winds and excellent underwater visibility around Nusa Penida and Lembongan (often 20–30 metres). This is the prime window for diving with mola-mola at Crystal Bay — the oceanic sunfish are most reliably seen between July and October, when cooler upwellings from the Lombok Strait bring them to shallower cleaning stations. Manta rays at Manta Point are active year-round, but visibility peaks in dry season. Expect the busiest ports and highest demand for the fleet in July, August and over the Christmas–New Year window, so book well ahead.
Wet Season (November to March) — Quieter Waters, Warmer Seas
The wet season brings shorter, heavier afternoon showers — usually clearing by evening — and warmer water temperatures. Mornings are often bright and calm, making early-start charters very rewarding. Day Charter — Nusa Lembongan & Nusa Ceningan
Depart Benoa Harbour in the morning and sail south-east across the Badung Strait to Nusa Lembongan. Swim and snorkel at Mushroom Bay, paddleboard through the mangroves between Lembongan and Ceningan, cross the iconic yellow bridge by tender, and lunch on board anchored off Dream Beach. Return to Bali in the late afternoon with sunset drinks on the crossing. Ideal for first-time charter guests, couples and families.
3-Day Weekend — Bali Coastline & Nusa Penida
A long weekend circumnavigating the islands just off Bali’s south-eastern coast. Day one anchors at Nusa Lembongan for snorkelling and surfing. Day two crosses to Nusa Penida for the towering Kelingking cliff viewpoint, Broken Beach and a drift dive or snorkel at Manta Point. Day three heads to Crystal Bay for mola-mola (in season) before a relaxed sail back to Benoa. Perfect for shorter holidays or a Bali add-on to a mainland trip.
7-Day Voyage — Bali to Lombok & the Gili Islands
A classic eastbound route that combines Bali’s cultural coastline with Lombok’s quieter waters and the Gili archipelago. Begin with two days exploring Nusa Penida and Lembongan, then cross the Lombok Strait overnight. Spend three days on Lombok and the famous Gili trio — Trawangan, Meno and Air — with snorkelling over turtle grounds, diving at Shark Point, and a sunset anchorage off Gili Meno. Finish with two days in the lesser-known Secret Gilis of Sekotong Bay in south-west Lombok. One-way return flights from Lombok (LOP) to Bali (DPS) are quick and frequent.
10 to 14-Day Voyage — Bali to Komodo National Park
The full Indonesian archipelago experience and our most requested longer charter from Bali. Sail east through Nusa Penida, Lombok and the Gilis, then continue to Sumbawa’s Moyo Island for waterfall treks and dolphin-rich waters. Cross to Satonda Island’s volcanic crater lake, then on to Komodo National Park for dragon encounters on Rinca and Komodo islands, the Pink Beach, Padar’s panoramic ridge, and manta drift dives at Manta Alley and Makassar Reef. Disembark at Labuan Bajo (LBJ) with onward flights back to Bali or Jakarta. This itinerary also runs beautifully in reverse.
